Bio:

Camila Alvarez is a musician, composer, author and playwright most known for leading the musical performance art collective “Period Bomb”. Originating out of Los Angeles but quickly relocated to her hometown of Miami, Period Bomb has been constantly exploring and evolving for the past decade, making it hard to pin them down under one genre. Their full-length vinyl ‘Threat’ was recorded by and features members of Half Japanese and was released on their label ‘Megaphone Limited’. Past shared bills have included: Eugene Chadbourne, Arto Lindsay, Lydia Lunch, The Flying Luttenbachers, Thurston Moore, Pharmakon, Vivien Goldman, Allison Wolfe, Jad Fair, Wolf Eyes, Chuck Dukowski, Ron Reyes, Water From Your Eyes, Yves Tumor, Gary Wilson, Mark Hosler, Nervous Gender, Rat Bastard and Tom Smith (To Live and Shave in LA). Press:

Sometimes harrowing and sometimes hilarious, the way this cinematic group of outlaws known as Period Bomb formed and made the world their stage while attempting to take down rape-culture in the indie-underground by seizing every single stage or lack-thereof they could is nothing short of mythical. Camila is undoubtedly spearheading this generation's army of She-Punks." - Vivien Goldman (Revenge of the She-Punks, Rebel Musix, The Guardian, The Flying Lizards, NME)

Miami-based project that blends no wave, weirdo pop, and electro-punk into a sound that is hard to pin down but often exciting. Opening track “Melodaze” sounds like a CHICKS ON SPEED and SCREAMERS collab, drum machines and synths colliding with nonchalantly spoken vocals. “No Puedo Ser Nada” flips the chaos switch, evoking a feral LYDIA LUNCH locked in a closet. “Deal with God” continues this no wave streak with atonal singing and a squawking saxophone in the background. Standout track “Might Not Survive” showcases the band at their best—an otherworldly KATE BUSH-style mutant ballad played out over rolling bass and a disco beat. The unique sound and theatricality of singer Cami’s voice hearkens back to the early “anything goes” days of L.A. punk and is worth a listen. -Maximum Rock n' Roll on '24-Caract Clit' released on Crass Lips & Insecurity Hits 2024

'Threat' was 'Instantly infectious' and 'poignantly off-kilter' - New Noise Magazine

The Miamians are just as angry and bitter as they are playful and imaginative, as any glance at their discography yields scathing condemnations of the status quo in relation to women’s and gender engagement. - Tiny Mixtapes

Period Bomb blend punk and no-wave-adjacent noise coupled with a potent sarcastic streak. Results deftly balance slink and skronk, dissonant and drony, yet remain surpringly accessible throughout. This could've easily devolved into a smashy din, but each of the twelve songs here are well thought though, unique to each other, impeccably delivered, and keenly away of when to move on before the welcome wears out. This'll get many spins. - Razorcake on 'Threat' released on Megaphone Records 2023
